基本的に、カーソルを最初の行の前に置いて、データを要求しています。カーソルを最初の行に移動させる必要があります。

 result.next();
 String foundType = result.getString(1);

if文やループの中で行うのが一般的です。

if(result.next()){
   foundType = result.getString(1);
}
