gemネイティブ拡張のビルドに失敗しました - Railsのインストール

質問

edXのオンライン講座の指示に従い、Ruby on Railsをインストールしています。

以下はターミナルコマンドのリストと、関連する場合、対応する出力です。

$ sudo apt-get install ruby1.9.1

インストール成功

$ wget http://production.cf.rubygems.org/rubygems/rubygems-1.8.24.tgz
$ tar zxvf ruby-1.8.24.tgz
$ cd ruby-1..8.24
$ sudo ruby setup.rb
RubyGems 1.8.24 installed

ここまでは問題なかったのですが、railsをインストールしようとしたら失敗してしまいました。

mkmf の一部である ruby1.9.1-dev パッケージの一部です。このパッケージには、Ruby 1.9.1 用の拡張ライブラリに必要なヘッダーファイルが含まれています。をインストールする必要があります。 ruby1.9.1-dev パッケージを実行することでインストールできます。

sudo apt-get install ruby1.9.1-dev

あとは通常通りRailsをインストールします。

一般的にはそのままの方が簡単です。

sudo apt-get install ruby-dev
